MEXICO CITY, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Pumas UNAM have extended the contract of Argentine manager Andres Lillini until 2022, the Mexican club said on Friday.
The 46-year-old led Pumas to second in the regular-season Liga MX Apertura standings after replacing Spaniard Miguel Gonzalez on an interim basis in July.
"After conducting an analysis of Andres Lillini's work ... it was agreed that he will remain in charge of the team for the next two years," read a Pumas statement.
Pumas have lost just once in 17 matches under Lillini's command and are one of four teams to earn an automatic berth in the Apertura quarterfinals.
Lillini previously had no experience as a professional first-team manager, having been promoted from his post as director of the Pumas youth academy.
