MEXICO CITY, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's Foreign Ministry on Monday reaffirmed the country's foreign policy of committing to multilateralism, identifying support for multilateral organizations as one of its main objectives for 2022.

Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard stressed the importance of "contributing to peace and stability" in the world at the opening of the annual meeting of Mexico's ambassadors and consuls.

"We are going to continue participating in the peaceful resolution of disputes and conflicts not only in the region, but throughout the world," and supporting multilateralism in "a world with significant geopolitical tensions," Ebrard said.

Latin American countries respect Mexico's fight against corruption and for justice, as well as the fact that it is a consistent government, he said.

Other Mexican foreign policy objectives for the year include active cooperation with trade partners towards the country's economic recovery, continued support for Mexican nationals living abroad and promoting strategies to deal with mass immigration, the official said.
